The story: After finishing my PhD in Fish Ecology, I was not able to find a job in that field that suited my personality. I grew up as my family's pastry chef, and combined my scientific and creative sides to open Bump City Bakery. I love conducting controlled experiments in the kitchen, and using inspiration from mixology and classic cocktails to create new booze-infused sweets. My experiments that result in happy dessert eaters are the most rewarding experiments I've ever conducted.

We both longed to start our own business and with Traci's passion for cold pressed juice, Shari's mixing skills and the lack of healthy juice companies in the East Bay, The Living Apothecary was born. As we did our research and began working with fun, healthy ingredients TLA quickly grew from just cold pressed juice to kefir water tonics and vegan milks to round out our philosophy nicely..."let food be thy medicine..."

The story: I am a lover of food; from the history of it, to the cooking of it, food consumes my daily life. My expression of love for the world and those around me is through food. I am a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America (Class of '99) and have been in the foodservice industry for over 17 years. I have held many BOH positions and loved every one of them. My desire to own a business is what kept me alive while I was in an abusive marriage and helped me stay focused once I left. LulaMae is an extension of the burning love and passion that I have for baking and feeding people. The grandmother/aunt that reminds you, that you are loved and cared for. A reflection of my future wiser, older self. As a QWOC owned business and a proud mother of four children, who has experienced many hardships, my goal is to not only provide amazing baked goods and service; but to inspire others to listen to their hearts and make their dreams a reality.

The story: Spice Child was founded in Oakland, California in 2012 by chef turned herbalist, Syslee Schael. Her work as an herbalist
brought her clients yearning for easy ways to transform their health through food. Searching for remedies Syslee discovered ghee, a nutrient rich oil used by ancient cultures for cooking and in Ayurvedic medicine. Spice Child ghee is hand made in small batches using butter made from the pasture raised, grass fed cows of beautiful Sonoma County, California. Beyond our original ghee we offer 5 infused ghee flavors. By combining and infusing our ghee with organic, locally grown herbs and spices we have created rogue flavor combinations that can transform any meal with just one spoonful. As part of our line Spice Child also offers 3 dry condiment mixes. We have taken from traditional old world recipes while incorporating updated ingredients, adding our own unique touch. Ghee has been widely used in India for centuries. Here is America we are now just discovering this ancient oil and the healing powers it offers. Spice Child makes our ghee using traditional methods and is on a mission to teach the public about the benefits and rewards of using this rich, tasty oil.

The story: Once we had a fresh stroopwafel made right in front of us in Amsterdam, the packaged cookies couldn't compare. So, we searched long and hard throughout the Bay Area to find someone who makes them fresh and actually found a Dutch bakery . . . . in Clovis! To our dismay, their doors closed for good exactly 7 days prior to our discovery. That began our 9 month quest to import the equipment and learn how to make stroopwafels for ourselves. We realized there was a demand in the Bay Area (or at least would be once we debuted our cookies) for fresh stroopies, so we created The Stroopie Gourmet to fill the void!
